Random Thoughts Feb / March

I can still taste the bitter defeat from yesterday. When a very under preforming USA defeat Canada in the gold medal mens hockey game. No sports is never about who deserves it, in this case its about who gets the most goals and the states did but they did not deserve it!! 4 nations USA was scary, they played well. Olympics except for maybe 3 minutes in the first period they did not look like a pro team. They looked like beer leaguers against an NHL squad. However in a single game Hellebuyck should have won tournament MVP. 41 saves and .976 save %. Any other day and Canada wins that 4 or  5-1 for sure. Stopping breakaways by McDavid and Cellebrini. That save on Devon Toews is iconic and his stick stopping that will go down as an all time great hockey pic. Also Mackinnon forgetting his is one of the worlds elite players and shooting on an open net like I do is going to haunt him for a long time!! Not going to blame them but the reffing was awful. I guess counting too many men is hard...

Random September Thoughts

The Olympics started. I remember when it was a big deal, grandpa recording it, like all of it on a massive VHS set. I still pay a bit of attention to the winter games but summer. Not so much. I am just going to go into the opening ceremonies for a second. I am not even religious, but man mocking Christians is the thing to do these days?? Look back over the last 20 years of opening ceremonies and you have some awesome shows. This was a shit show. Drag queens enacting The Last Supper. Then online I see clowns saying "Oh its not the last supper, its the feast of Dionysus and it is about the Greeks starting the games" No its not. Put those two paintings side by side with the ceremony and it is clearly the Last Supper. I can guarantee you wouldn't see them mocking Islam in an Islamic nation putting on the games. It has become a fucking joke. I did read someone try and say it was representing French art and culture. I could almost believe that, except it was painted by and Ita...

November Randoms!!

So I think this is my last entry for the year of 2023 that won't be in the series I have started. All it will take is a quick read and some of this was started a month ago, or more. I am going to concentrate on those other blogs and maybe be done them by the end of the year, sorry if some of this is really not relevant anymore! 337 years... That's at least how long my family has been in North America. Or at least the the part of my family whose surname I still use. The other part of me, well we have been in Canada forever, Ojibway. Anyways what I got from doing family tree research was it would have been my great (X9) grandfather that came here way back in 1686, Jebus. I found out for a few generations we were in Philly and then moved to New Jersey... Thank god we moved outta there. Then into Ontario, again thank god we moved to Alberta some time between 1896 and 1910. A lot of Jacobs, Lewis' and Daniels in the tree. The hard thing to tell is are they Irish or British they ...

September randos

So I started this one a month or more ago. Couldn't seem to fill it and then one day it all came tumbling out. There ended up being more Abpoli and Cdnpoli than I had planned. So I mean skip it if you don't want. Sure there is the normal comics, movies, games and such as well. I guess just a heads up, it is a real mixed bag and you may want to skip parts.... Or I guess if you are reading for the poli skip the gaming and TV lol. So I gotta hand it to Justin Trudeau, he actually trolled the right wing rather well. He wore a pink hoodie and took his son to Barbie. Also tagging it team Barbie. Of course some rightwing heads exploded, he's gay! No taking your son to see a movie and and wearing pink doesn't make you gay. Although it really comes off as trying to be a "cool single dad" since him and Sophies split. Anyways most Conservatives just hoped it was a spoof, it isn't of course and again the leader of Canada becomes an international laughing stock. My tho...

Pop Culture April

I have like 5 blogs started so I am finishing them up and I guess / hope in the last / next few weeks there will have been a lot put out by me! This is all pop culture and full I know a few of my last ones have all been anger and politics. So lets just chill!! First I am amazed by how even ball hockey has been in our div. after they divided into 2 divs it has been good. Like extremely even. As of this writing we are 6-3-2 and everyone is with 4 points of each other. Has been an interesting. One of our games we forgot to get a goalie a team playing afterwards that watched the game were impressed we could keep it so close. Also getting 7 goals for us that game was pretty damn good. Of course we lost 11-7 but it got desperate, they just kept dumping by the end hoping to hit the empty net. I currently am (Probably not after writing this, will jinx myself.) having my best season since 2011. I was 30 then, be 42 this year...  Think we could probably win our div this season, but I s...

Liberal Fails

I will be up front, I hate the liberal party and I am pretty sure Justin Trudeau is literally the WORST PM Canada has ever had. I am not going to rant though strictly out of my dislike for these clowns but out of facts and how they continue to fail at every turn. Honestly I don't know how or why there are still liberal voters and JT fans....  So recently I finished Indian in the Cabinet by Jody Wilson Raybold. Loved it. Not just cause it shows how sleazy the libs are but it is a great look at Canadian politics overall. First the party system, first past the post is screwed. Has been for years and EVERY party knows it. It seems like every party says they want to fix it until it gets them in power and holds them there. Without a doubt Jody does a great job of showing governing in Canada is not about governing but getting in power and staying there. Towing the party line. I won't say that is a Liberal problem, that would be any party in power, first and foremost that should be c...
