June Pop Culture!

So a quick pop culture blog, it has been a bit. I wanted to keep up to date. I mean soon part two of my trip will be up, just cant believe how long editing takes. Anyways here we go Ball hockey has been interesting. After an AWFUL last season they bumped us down a div. I played game 1, we won 7-2 and then I was gone on holidays. While I was gone we won all our games and got bumped back up. Since then we are 1-4. One of those is a forfeit since we had an Oiler game and no one showed. Maybe I am just bad luck... Actually I am having my best games ever. Most points per game I have ever had but we aren't winning. Here is the thing, a couple of our loses have been dramatic. Both times we were down 6-4. Both times we pulled our goalie and scored, then dominated for last 30 seconds. 30 seconds more and we would have tied the games. So I feel we are in the right div, just need to play harder. Would be nice to win a div again. Sadly still to low to get to provincials. I think I need to giv...

Comics

So I started out ranting about comics and the things that were pissing me off. Not just comics but pop culture in general. I decided I don't want to do just negative things anymore. SO while all the original paragraphs are here I did ad in some thoughts on current runs I am really liking and tried to put some positivity in. So sorry if this one is long. You can skip the angry parts if you want.... Ill start pleasant. I have said it before and I will say it again AWA has become my favorite comic studio. I love the fact even if "powers" are in the comic they are usually background to good story writing and usually not much for powers anyways more dark and gritty. The truth is this whole blog post was inspired by a series of theirs New Think. It literally is the smartest written, half assed political / "woke" series I have ever read. I hate wokeness but I loved it. It really took a good hard look at humanity, showed our flaws yet not once did I say wow this is prea...

Pop Culture April

I have like 5 blogs started so I am finishing them up and I guess / hope in the last / next few weeks there will have been a lot put out by me! This is all pop culture and full I know a few of my last ones have all been anger and politics. So lets just chill!! First I am amazed by how even ball hockey has been in our div. after they divided into 2 divs it has been good. Like extremely even. As of this writing we are 6-3-2 and everyone is with 4 points of each other. Has been an interesting. One of our games we forgot to get a goalie a team playing afterwards that watched the game were impressed we could keep it so close. Also getting 7 goals for us that game was pretty damn good. Of course we lost 11-7 but it got desperate, they just kept dumping by the end hoping to hit the empty net. I currently am (Probably not after writing this, will jinx myself.) having my best season since 2011. I was 30 then, be 42 this year...  Think we could probably win our div this season, but I s...

Current Pop Culture

Spoilers! Just a heads up. This blog is 92% pop culture and for TV and movies there are spoilers. Just a heads up as I am getting so tired of spoilers.... Let me wrap up House of the Dragon and Rings of Power. I REALLY enjoyed both. Rings of Power starts slow but the middle is very good. Plots push forward and things tie together nicely. If this is a spoiler to some I am sorry but I am confused. I thought Isuldur was king a LONG time after the fall of Nuemenor. Clearly he isnt, I assume we will see the fall and see him become the king of Gondor. Just saying thought it was a big time jump. Like doesn't he fall and he house of stewards rules Gondor for a long time? Like if thats right there are barely any kings of Gondor? NO wonder Boromir say "Gondor has no king. Gondor need no king." Maybe that leads into..... I don't understand the hate for this series online. Its a well done high fantasy series. It might not be exactly as Tolkien wrote it but that does not make it b...

Comics

I am a grown ass man, 40. I have a good job and do have hobbies that get me out of the basement like hockey, walking my dogs and hopefully a lot of golf and fishing this summer. I enjoy gardening, what I am getting at is I dont think I am what a ton of people think of when I say this I LOVE ME SOME COMICS! (Not 100% true my wife did send me a link to Weird Als White and Nerdy recently and said it was me) Well thats not fair with the rise of the MCU I think a million more people are into comics that may not have been 15 - 20 years ago. It really boggles my mind the MCU has been around for over a decade, I do think we all have some super hero hang over but this entry isn't about movies just pointing out the success of movies that I think has helped comics sales overall. Anyways a bit about what I am into these days and a few trends I hate....... First off I got into comics in the late 80s early 90s. My babysitter had 2 sons, the oldest had a comic collection he didn't like us to...

Spidey Vs Bats

A few weeks back I started a blog why Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy is the best comic movies ever. I will finish it and get it out but for now I am writing on the two newest ones. I had a week off and finally had a chance to see them. 2 of the 4 movies I really wanna see this year. The other 2 being Secrets of Dumbledore and Dr. Strange. SO if you thought this was gonna be my pick of a fight between Spidey and Bats sorry it isn't. Bats always wins if he has time to prep.... Also should go without saying Spoilers ahead! First half is spidey if you wanna skip that, second is Bats if you wanna skip that. Spidey is the most important MCU movie to date. That doesn't mean best or my fav but it has the biggest impact on the MCU. It flat out states every Marvel movie you have seen, good or bad happened. The impact of that is bigger than people disappearing for 5 years. It is the gateway to the future. Let's be honest right now Marvel is scrapping for heroes. This "phase" is...

Justice for the DCEU

The original Justice league was not a bad movie. Also the Zac Snyder cut is not really an amazing movie. It is pretty simple, the original was rushed out to compete with the Infinity War and that was just a bad idea... As I have said before. So let me quickly fix DC Man of Steel was awesome. If you wanted to make a DCEU MoS was a great start. It sets the darker tone than Marvel making it clear it isn't just going to be a clone of the MCU. The original Wonder Woman was also SO GOOD! Full disclosure I am a Marvel guy. DC never really did it for me. Superman was never a big thing and I honestly don't think to this day I own a Wonder Woman comic. These 2 movies actually made me care about DC. But right there you already screwed up DC! It went MoS, Bats V Supes (DoJ) then WW. Nope, WRONG if anything it should have been MoS, WW, a Batman movie then DoJ and DoJ should be considered the first Justice League movie. You got impatient, likely to keep up with Marvel and that screwed every...

JOKER

I have always like Batman, when it came to DC I figure he was by far the best. One of the biggest things he has going for him though is a memorable rogues gallery. Let's be honest some are just bad ones and have been shelved over the years but some are some of the most iconic villains in comics and 1 tops them all. The most iconic of all is the Joker. I dunno I have always been drawn to him, a few times (With years in between) I have been him for Halloween. I have started an origin story, ya I know it supposed to be a mystery but it is still fun to write. Maybe the only fan fic. I have ever tried. But why is he such an icon? I am gonna get into that and review the new Joker movie. Without an origin who doesn't want to identify with the Joker? He literally does whatever he wants, without any worries about what will happen. Have you worked in retail? Customer service? Been screamed at for no reason but had to take it? Wouldn't you love to scream back, lash out? (Maybe not i...
