Last Rando Rants

This blog took way to long. I don't even know the start date but an entire ball hockey season has happened since I started. The longest season of the year. So I am just going to post this. Sorry if it isn't well edited or has dated rants. I think I am done doing this kind of blog. I am actually enjoying blogging about a trip so I think that will be what I mainly do. If I am honest lately I feel like I have been spinning my wheels. Work, writing, failing in hockey. Haven't been doing school for a long time, I guess I feel like maybe I need a reset. Set some priorities and stick to them. SO in general writing I am focusing on one thing. School I am getting back into and work, well I guess I need to be hungry again, get that drive back. Not that anyone came here for my political insights or takes on pop culture. So I guess this is it for a bit, my last rants. I may have another blog posted but the things will be actual random thoughts. Not a bunch of topics..... I have never b...

June Pop Culture!

So a quick pop culture blog, it has been a bit. I wanted to keep up to date. I mean soon part two of my trip will be up, just cant believe how long editing takes. Anyways here we go Ball hockey has been interesting. After an AWFUL last season they bumped us down a div. I played game 1, we won 7-2 and then I was gone on holidays. While I was gone we won all our games and got bumped back up. Since then we are 1-4. One of those is a forfeit since we had an Oiler game and no one showed. Maybe I am just bad luck... Actually I am having my best games ever. Most points per game I have ever had but we aren't winning. Here is the thing, a couple of our loses have been dramatic. Both times we were down 6-4. Both times we pulled our goalie and scored, then dominated for last 30 seconds. 30 seconds more and we would have tied the games. So I feel we are in the right div, just need to play harder. Would be nice to win a div again. Sadly still to low to get to provincials. I think I need to giv...

Early June

Started June off with a holiday! Or a mini one in Calgary. See I have been gone a ton the last few weeks, so it was a nice plan by the wife to get a couple days alone. We left bright and early-ish on Monday morning. I played Red Dead for a bit if I am honest. Starbucks and we were on the go. The fact is highway 2 is a nice drive. Dual lanes, flat and straight so we were in Cowtown in a few hours. I don't know how people did it without GPS. I mean I love looking at maps but as for using them to drive in a big city... I would go nuts. But we got to the zoo with no mishaps.... Anyway I have to say this place kicks ass over Edmonton Zoo. I loved it! Everything is well done. Its clean and has sooooo many good exhibits. I mean yes I think we were there for only 3 hours but one could do a lot more! I gotta say I loved the pandas, bears and wolves. Monkeys not my thing for some reason and the lions never move! It was cool, one tiger was roaming. After that we headed to the hotel. Again...

Just more random ideas on my life!

I was bothered by an article I read on huffington post the other day. Not having kids sing the anthem in school. To me this is going too far, with social justice or whatever you want to call in now. I had to sing it in the morning, didn't hurt me. I get taking the lords prayer out. We had to say that, "back in the day" Now there are so many people of different religions that maybe it has become inappropriate, I can give you that. HOWEVER why take away the anthem? Are we not all Canadian? People talk about lacking Canadian identity and we want to take away our national song? They claimed it is hyper nationalist. And? We should take pride in our nation. NO it doesn't say everything is good and nothing bad. Why would you write a song trying to instill national pride with the bad in it? I mean I guess you can call me backwards, redneck, whatever you want but IMO the national anthem should be said. Millions or even billions of people would like to come here. To have the li...

More Random Thoughts!

Cold enough for you? I cannot handle this phrase anymore! I know it is cold in Edmonton but can we stop with this?? Like really what do you want me to reply? No I wish it was colder. Like so cold we would just die when we went outside.  Fuck what do you think???!! It is cold enough! Don’t ask again. Like working hard or hardly working GAWD! Also when did we all forget how to drive? As soon as a single skiff of snow hits E-town it is like no one remembers we have been driving here for years in snow. In the last week I have had a few near misses, not my fault either! IN fact if I was a more aggressive driver I would have hit a couple people. So for once my granny driving has paid off. I love this on lazy weekends, being on call and the cold means I get some extra cash. HOWEVER it really suck when you have plans and they get interrupted by the after hours call. That is always when people call to, it’s never when you’re doing nothing but always when you’re out for a nice meal or somet...

January Random Thoughts

I was watching a roid rager moan about the Gillette commercial last night. At first I jumped to the conclusion he was just a dumb ass, then I actually listened. He had a good point, there isn’t really toxic masculinity. There is masculinity, that which makes us male. We typically are stronger. We rough house and are taught not to piss moan and cry about everything. Life gives you some hiccups and you deal with them. There is nothing wrong with that. I am willing to bet most women, whether they admit it or not want a masculine male. I assume yes women wanna feel strong and independent but I am sure they also wanna feel feminine and not the man in the relationship. This so called toxic masculinity isn’t masculinity, it is just assholes being assholes. Television isn't amazing for me at least right now. First the Walking Dead is limping on. The second half of this season I think will make or break them. If it isn't good I would say they are done, the show has gone downhill s...

November thoughts

So Justin Trudeau came to Alberta. He got the warm reception I think everyone knew was coming. Let's be honest, he ain't popular here. Signs were made that mocked his mom for possibly banging the rolling stones, oh and Castro. I have no problem with that. IMO like Melania Trump she saw some $$$ jumped on and ya know maybe got some on the sly. Some people well they may have taken't it too far with the whole noose thing. I have 0 like or even respect for him but the whole death threats, that kinda crosses a line. It is what it is, classless but have seen and heard much worse. Now a local turd sandwich and bitter Ex MLA is trying to blame right with politicians for this. People here have disliked the Trudeau family for decades, so good try I guess??? We get it you're bitter that you got punted... I am flying to Mexico tomorrow morning. While I got legally married a couple months back, this is the big show. Friends, family, big white dress.... No not on me! Am I nervous, ...

Random Thoughts for October

Been awhile since I just blogged about random shit. A ton has gone on in my life. I got married, I finished a first draft of my book. Work picked up. My grandmother sadly got worse. So ya even though I should be doing something useful in my chance to write this AM, I think I will chill and ramble. I guess if I am rambling about writing I am kinda bummed that Fansideseats.com hasn't been putting new shit up for awhile. I was enjoying writing stuff for the and I think there was actually more views of my work so that was good. But not writing there gave me more time to work on my fantasy novel. Which I finished YA! But editing sucks, it is making me rethink the whole writing process. Like I just pour words onto a page and then get back to it months later. Welp half the time I am not sure what I meant and then my writing was so unedited that I, the writer can't get what I was going for. SO I think I need to work on making sure my first drafts are better. Total random thought but ...

Sunday Rants

It is Sunday, a great day for a rant. I don't have a single thing to ramble about today just some random stuff that has been piling up. As always I didn't win the lotto and have to go back to work Tuesday. On the job front I am still enjoying my job, would love to move to "outside" sales but who knows when that will happen.... Oh and still not a published writer. The more I sit back and think about it the more I like Neil Gaiman. The guy has done everything! Books, TV, movies, comics! That would be my dream! Need to get working for that though, shit I am almost 40. Let's talk hockey cause I like to. Parents took me to the Det V Oil game last Sunday. First time I have seen the Wings win live. We had great seats, and wow service right at the seat for drinks now??? Plus Rogers food is awesome. Now for Oil fans this year is shit! A friend was saying to repeat last year a lot of guys need to have career years again, like last year. I think this year is proof there is...
