As Canada falls... Gaza and Online Harms

I am for the most part a pretty proud Canadian, even with the dipshit we have running the country, its still the only nation I want to call home. A mansion in Beverly Hills, ya that would be sweet with a Canadian flag flying out front. Now that I know tattoos really don't hurt I keep thinking of ones to get and sometimes dream about working the maple leaf into something. However 2 things are really getting to me these days. They make me wonder wtf is wrong with our nation, why we are so divided and losing sight ofthe things that did make us a great nation. So a quick bitchy blog, here they are. 1) Gaza. Am I horrible for saying this, I don't care. I have been blogging about media and honesty and such recently and this is a prime example of it. Person A claims Israel is bombing the shit out of people, killing innocents on purpose, starving people to death, sending assassins into hospitals, raping and on and on. Person B then refutes it. The assassins in the hospital killed high ...

Part #6 Social Media

Remember when social media used to be fun? Are you old enough for that?? I am, and it is sad to look back at it. So, I will start with some of my social media history. As is typical, it hit America first. Then it soaked into the east and Ontario. A friend out there invited me to Facebook; that was the first big one, but we can go back even further to MySpace days. I didn't really get into that one, but I did some reading, and it blew my mind at one time over 300,000 million users and valued at $12 billion. I remember that one as being music and some pictures. It was enjoyable, or at least that's what I remember. Nothing serious, no politics, but goofing around. Then there was Nexopia... I should have seen the toxic internet culture coming from there. For anyone who may need to learn what Nexopia, it was a smaller social media community started in Edmonton that is/was 95% Canadian users. When we signed up, I said we because it was myself, and a couple of roommates found out abo...

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo...

Part 2 Healthcare and mental health

Whatever you are doing right now, stop it. Grab a tall glass of water and chug it. 60% of human bodies are water. Most people don't get enough water in them in a day!! I'm seeing more people with big water bottles to remind them to drink. I have one, but I still need to get more into me. This is purely my opinion, but water, sleep, and HEALTHY food are the three best things for people. When someone is hungry, thirsty, or tired, they will not nearly perform as well as they usually would. That is a personal side note. I will get into it more, but we must take better care of ourselves. Those three things are a fundamental start. Get more sleep, healthy sleep. Don't drink to pass out; that sleep isn't restful. I mean the sleep you get after a long, hard day. Get more water, and I know it is hard, and you may end up peeing more BUT drink that damn water. Eat better! I am a person who eats out a lot, cooks at home a lot, and is used to eating fast food a lot. Greasy fast food...

Part 1 - Political Systems and Economics

So, I had another entry picked for my first in this series, but I changed my mind. I want to do a few entries on all the things that are fucking up the world right now. I'll back up; seeing the poverty in Yellowknife, staying in downtown Edmonton for a couple of nights, and then seeing downtown Saskatoon the other day, it is heartbreaking to see how the world has gotten. We can also add Pandora Street in Victoria to the list. The poverty, you can look at the crime and addiction stats. It is all terrible & what struck me is that no one gives a fuck. I love Canada, I love 'Berta! But I don't love our politics. If you watch every party, every one, including the ones I support, do fuck all to make the world better. They try to prove how the other party is wrong, but none try to make things better. I have gotten to the point I don't think they want to. Hell, if things get too good, what do they rant about? Even at a municipal level, you take Edmonton, for example. Crime ...

Society Deep Dive Opening

Okay, this is a quick opening to the following few blogs I post. The world is going to hell. It sucks to turn on the news, nothing good ever seems to be happening, and there is a constant spin in the media, hoping you start to see things their way. Media doesn't deliver just facts anymore; they provide how they want you to see the world. You open social media, and it is awful. What started as fun pics and stupid status' has been taken over by politics, attacks on people, or mind-numbing videos to keep people glued to their phones. You walk into a waiting room now, and no one smiles or says hi. They are slaves to the phone in their hands, and we look down at ours and join them. I am just as bad at this as anyone. Politics aren't even politics anymore. Politics are attack campaigns that are not about improving the world but rather about keeping power. Honestly, I never see anything saying this is what we will do, and this is why it is good. It is always what they will do, and...

Canadian Politics and some rants

This might be a mixed bag or it might just be politics, a look at Canada and Alberta and where we went wrong. I guess it depends on how long the politics take. Either way heads up, this won't have fun little nuggets like which games I am playing or some good issues to read...... Democracy or at least the art of democratic politics is dead and funnily enough it was killed by the parliamentary democracy government system. We still get to cast our votes, that is true but it has become whoever gets elected is more accountable to their party than to the population they are supposed to represent. There is a party whip now, someone who makes sure the MP or MLA tows the line for the party. People don't run on what is best for their riding but for the parties ideals. I keep saying the party with a very specific point. It is usually in authoritarian countries we have a "party" Glory to the Party! Now today I do not have a tinfoil hat on, I know we are still a free nation but wh...

Social media, CBC and the nothing burger

OMG again a post that just got too long for social media so it becomes a small blog rant... First lets just all get on board that politics has become a joke. Social media has not helped politics at all. It is now more about people shit posting online and politicians (Of every party) mud slinging rather than doing what is best for our nation. We are more divided and grow more divided every day. I don't want to be a luddite and say tech is bad but without a doubt it has a lot of bad to go with the good. It is great people and parties can reach a wider audience, a more informed voter is a better voter. Scroll through social media though it isn't important points anymore, it's trying to stir up shit to not win your vote per say but to make you not vote for the opponent. I will admit right here I post on politics and get a lot of negative feedback because I do exactly what I am bitching about here. I guess what I am saying is personally I could be better and the entire world wo...

US Politics and why I can't be a Dem....

I can't support the Democrats anymore. I will get to why but this doesn't really mean I support the Republicans either. This whole post is brought about by the anniversary of the attempted "coup" in the USA. Where "democracy" was ALMOST overthrown.... lol right Let me start with had you asked me up until 2013ish I probably would have said I support the Dems. Here in Canada I have always voted Con. (Republican if your not Canadian or close to it)  All my life it seems like I was told that was the right party to vote for & I freely admit a big chunk of that is because I grew up in Alberta. Kenney and the UCP are the first time at any level I did not vote for the cons. They seems power hungry (him for sure) and I never feel that is a good thing. Now as I grew up I voted for the cons as I believe they are the right choice. There is no virtue signaling. They simply do what is best for the people, even if it isn't popular. Of course they are painted as ri...
