30 Day writing Challenge #27 What I wore today

What I wore today? Seriously? That is a pretty weak topic, but I guess it is a challenge to get one thinking. So Challenge Accepted.

It is 26 degrees. I wear the same thing is summer that I have for oh the last 20 years! Board shorts and a tee (Usually a skate tee. Oh and that’s a lie, like every silly person I did wear jean cut offs in the 90’s. Thank fuck that went away.) Anyways I pretty much always wear the same thing in the summer shorts and a tee. I go have khaki shorts for nice important things but in general board shorts do me fine. Skate tees and board shorts. Today it is a white Hurley shirt, is Hurley even still around?? And hand me up Alpine Stars shorts. My “Little” brother is almost a foot taller than me, so I get hand me ups….And sandals, always sandals. Plus a quicksilver ball cap.
I wish I was richer and could afford Crooks and Castles or Diamond but sadly that is for richer people or teenagers. Oh but please don’t think I am trying to recapture my youth or something. I can see people in the malls and on Whyte Ave trying to be twenty again. I am just cheap and dress for comfort.

I wanted to start a clothing line based around Alberta, and the lives people lead out here. Hell if the East thinks we are hillbillies why not embrace it! Alberta Proud! But that is a side note.
Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing up. My in laws keep buying me nice clothes to wear. And damn I look good in them! But I don’t have a job to wear them to, without seeming like the overdressed meat ball. On that topic I don’t think there is anything wrong with wearing nice jeans to important events. Maybe not a wedding or a funeral but I think my Silver jeans are nicer than a lot of cheap dress pants people by. (Just don’t bedazzle them!)


Anyways dress for comfort unless it is important, that’s my motto….

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers.
