Mayans Finale

Well Mayans is over, this will be a quick post but it was too long to post on Twitter and social media. A lot of this is just a rehash of an earlier post but updated with the show now being wrapped up, some final thoughts and a review of the finale. So it should go without saying. Spoilers ahead!! Kurt Sutter created Sons of Anarchy and it was a massive hit. Yes it took a couple seasons but so did Yellowstone to be a hit. Mayans never hit that. Allegedly Sutter had a plan for 4 shows in order SOA, Mayans, First 9 and Sons. 4 shows set in the same universe and all tied together. For those who remember it, the Shield is in the same universe (I am rewatching, its so good) This was proven when Bishop mentioned Vic Makey.... This isn't just me wanting it to be true. After Mayans failure to take off I doubt we see First 9 which I would love or Sons (Thomas and Abel and SOA) which I dunno if they become SOA it would take away from Jaxs story. Mayans failed because it was poorly written, ...

July Randoms

Damn you James Gunn! Damn you to hell! I wanted to sit and bitch about how you were killing the "hard" work DC had put into creating a shared universe. I wanted to say your Guardians series had gone downhill. Then I watched Guardians 3. If you take out the massive Avengers crossovers, it is a top 3 project probably. Top 5 for sure. I don't even know how many movies and shows they have churned out but this is among the best. So MAYBE you will make DC much better.... Anyways Guardians 3 watch it! IMO it is WAY better than the second and hell maybe better than the first that I still think was over rated. It has it all. A great plot, comedy, action and man does it hit the feels FFS. I am not a huge fan of some of the end, the new "team" meh but not sure if they will move forward with that or if it is more just giving characters a way to move on. Warlock should have had a much bigger role & I really thought the High Evolutionary would be a much bigger threat. I ...

Restaurant life OR my Vanderpump years Part 2

This is a part 2, it would probably be best to read part 1 first.  Was it the Sawmill that used to be over by the Blockbuster?? You know in Oliver square. I feel like a dinosaur asking that. That was were I had my first interview. The chef, I dunno what was wrong with him, about 5 times he said "You cook fast?" not even proper English, then "How fast?" They offered me a job, I said no. I couldn't imagine working there. However up 124 that chain restaurant from GP had a location in Edmonton and they also offered me a job. Simply based on GP experience. It was the owner here that told me GP was the busiest location and I might find this one slow. Instead of 5 or 6 guys working there might be 2 or 3. We didn't have a dishwasher, cooks were expected to do it. Oh and the kicker was this, $6/hour. I was taking +$3 pay cut and now I actually had bills. However I guess these would be my real "Vanderpump" years. So I have blogged about some of these people ...

Restaurant Life or My Vanderpump Years part 1

SO just a heads up this will be 2 parts. Neither part is really long but together they seemed way too long for a single blog. I kind of divided it up between Gp and Edmonton. The first part I was a minor and maybe not fully in the "Industry" life. So I guess part 2 is more like Vanderpump and part 1 is a boy looking in. Restaurant life yo! From 15 to 23 I worked in restaurants, mostly a single major chain here in Canada. I did a few jobs, host / bus boy, salad maker, dishwasher, cook and delivery driver. To be fair this was 19 years ago. I was done in the industry but to this day when people have asked if I liked it or if I would go back (For the same $$$ I make now) I have always said yes. Honest truth, I don't know how people who aren't young adults make a life in the "industry". Having a mortgage, truck payment, house bills, insurance and just wanting to buy nice shit and travel the world I couldn't do it on a cook wage. When people say though if you ...

Mayans Final Ride

Mayans MC is wrapping up, it was an okay ride. It was no SOA and while we wouldn't want an exact copy at least some of the likability would have been good. Mayans had no characters I really got behind except Coco and he was written out, allegedly due to off screen drama. Honestly I think it was the writing and the loss of Kurt Sutter that killed the show. At the end of the day this is his baby and he was fired from it. When he is on a roll at something like Sons or the Shield, he is good but when you give someone control over something someone else dreamt up the product won't end up as good. The acting has been great but overall it has been unbelievable writing that has killed the show. Honestly I do hope these last 8 episodes are great, the two they started with were decent.... Anyways lets just have a look at a show I had so much hope for but kinda fell short. There were a lot of stories that seem to go nowhere. We have EZs photographic memory. For the first season or so EZ ...

Ab votes 2023

Honestly just a rant, while I am currently in a "professional" writing course I know this blog ain't that, just some thoughts, feelings, observations on the vote a couple nights ago. I should probably just stay off social media with #Abpoli threads for the next couple days. The election is over and if I thought social media was bad before it has just gotten worse. I am not sure who takes loss worse the MAGAts down in the states when Prez Bone Spurs was ejected OR NDP supporters. Thousands of posts, Albertans are all redneck racist homophobic bigots! The crazy part is how many are from people not even in ALBERTA! The thing is I am not even a big UCP guy. Many times I have blogged about Dani Smith and maybe how I don't trust her at all but when you come at my home, of course I am going to say shit back. So it is probably best I just ignore that for a day or 2. So far my favorite was a person saying all Alberta is uneducated white extreamists. Someone who doesn't eve...

Canadian Politics and some rants

This might be a mixed bag or it might just be politics, a look at Canada and Alberta and where we went wrong. I guess it depends on how long the politics take. Either way heads up, this won't have fun little nuggets like which games I am playing or some good issues to read...... Democracy or at least the art of democratic politics is dead and funnily enough it was killed by the parliamentary democracy government system. We still get to cast our votes, that is true but it has become whoever gets elected is more accountable to their party than to the population they are supposed to represent. There is a party whip now, someone who makes sure the MP or MLA tows the line for the party. People don't run on what is best for their riding but for the parties ideals. I keep saying the party with a very specific point. It is usually in authoritarian countries we have a "party" Glory to the Party! Now today I do not have a tinfoil hat on, I know we are still a free nation but wh...
