Mayans MC

 I am going to save the Mayans! Not the awesome Mexicans that I really wish I could go see, I mean I hope they are doing well and I want to see them someday. I would give anything to go back to the resort we got married at or even more the one our honeymoon was at..... But I am referring to the Sons Of Anarchy spin off. There are two episodes left this season and they have yet to be renewed. Viewership has decreased a lot this season or so I have read even though IMO its maybe the best season they have made.....

Let's start from the start, I guess maybe I am not saving them I dunno how to bring viewers back. I am fixing what should have been....... Anyways the reason we loved SOA (And yes people did love SOA. For awhile you couldn't even go out without seeing someone wearing clothes with SOA on it) we were invested in the MC. Of course we were all interested in the Teller family dysfunctions BUT we also cared about Opie, Piney, Bobby, Tiggy, Half Sack, Happy, Chibbs. You get the point there was way more to it than just Jax. In fact the first 3 or 4 season SOA didn't even deal with anything too big. Ya they had some nasty villains BUT it was all small time really. A lot of the story was just about the MC and the people around it. Mayans didn't do this. The very first season Mayans had a murder mystery, the Galindo Cartel and Mexican revolutionaries. That's not even touching the MC, that's just the background! Crowded... a little. All these things could / should have slowly been introduced over the next few seasons. That is enough basically to play out over the entire series. That takes away from the actual point of the show, the Mayan MC. Honestly other than Coco by the end of the first two season I didn't really care or know about anyone else in the MC other than EZ and Angel of course (Honestly I didn't even remember every members name). This season has shown a lot more about the MC and actually has made them interesting. That should have been the groundwork for the whole series! My feeling is that is the single biggest mistake this show made, they tried to jump into the insanity of the last couple seasons of SOA rather than build up to it.

Get rid of the messy Galindo family story. First they are soooo boring. Danny Pino, amazing in some scenes not doing it for me in others. I would have either made him into the violent part of the cartel or the legit face but his bouncing doesn't work. Emily, also boring AF. Sure she dated EZ, that really hasn't mattered at all. The love affair that made Miguel, too much. Or maybe not if it slowly comes out. I am finding more and more TV shows start a plot and wrap it up ASAP. Why not build a story rather than rush through it? Other than Miguel's drugs they didn't need to be around....

Adelita another WTF story line? I mean unlike Galindo family this one could actually bring a lot to the show. It just goes off the rails! IF the show wants to (And it seems they do) make a social commentary this would have been a great way to do it... Maybe I am shitting on it to soon, maybe the next few episodes will fix it up it kinda went huh? Bringing back Lincoln into this story line was also cool. Just cool to see im back BUT wtf did they do to him. He was eccentric in SOA. I don't know if too "dark" is the word for him in this series but he just became brutal. I liked him as antagonist in SOA. Mayans he is just evil, not clever or entertaining anymore.

The murder mystery.... First off having Happy murder Mrs Reyes, I don't like. Honestly it just seems like they are trying to use SOA fame to pump up this show. Second if he killed their mother do you really believe they let him walk? Its like they wrote Happy in and then said oh shit we don't want to kill an SOA fan fav. If it was Happy, it was Happy but he sadly should have gotten a much different outcome. That story is great though. It literally sets up EZ for the series and EZ is a great character. First JD plays him awesome, second it is neat to see the MC from a prospect angle. SOA you don't really get it. Kinda from Half Sack but having the main character as a prospect is cool. How he got there with this murder is cool. The conclusion of the murder mystery was weak. They could have played that out for 7 seasons. I would have.... Not saying it need to be JOHN TELLER but in the long run JT has way more an effect than Mrs Reyes did. That's sad because really she should be a BIG ASS part of the story.

Just changing those 3 things and I think the show would be more successful. Plus more of the MC, it seems like the first 2 seasons they forgot the show was called Mayans and supposed to be centred around the club. Coco got some story and I would say that is why he is a fan fav. Had we known about Bishops tragedy or Tazas love or Hanks mom or anything about Creeper, Gilly or Riz maybe it could have kept the viewership up. Now all these seeds have been planted, it would be great to see a few more seasons and see how it all plays out. As of this writing the show is not renewed but I really hope it is... I think those 3 changes and we wouldn't be having this talk.

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers.
