Christmas!

It is my favorite time of the year! Christmas! I have the day off to go Xmas shopping. So it is a nice long weekend. Anytime I can sleep in on a Friday, play video games then blog and go shopping is a good day. Plus WEM shouldn't be too busy on a weekday right?? The fact is most of my shopping is done. My fiance is getting a massage and basically I am going to wander. I like being in the mall this time of the year. It is kind of fun to people watch. Dec 22,23,24 suck cause people are in a mad panic but this week should be good. Anyway here is why I love Xmas!!

First is the parties. Last week was hers. It was great, open bar (don't see that often!) good food, a good turn out and a decent DJ. It was drama free and spent time meeting new people it was awesome. This weekend is mine. Back in the day, when I was young lol it was awesome. The turnout used to be good. This year I hear we may hit only 40. But as long as the food is good and you get to visit with people on a social level it is nice. (Being the guy on call sucks!) Next week we are going to a Christmas Carol for the third time in five years. Then Sunday we have "friends" Xmas. I am sure most people do something like this but a bunch of us get together, fry up a turkey and do a gift exchange. SO every weekend in my December is booked.

Here is a Christmas problem. People and political correctness! I celebrate Christmas so I say Merry Christmas, that's the end of it. If you don't that's fine but don't complain about my beliefs. I try hard not to complain about other peoples beliefs. This might come off as a hillbilly or something but fuck everyone complaining about Xmas. I will say Merry Xmas and if it offends you I will say fuck you. I think carols should be in school. Trees in malls, this country was founded by people who celebrate Christmas and we as a people need to remember that. It was also made as a better more accepting world so we should also except everyone else's holidays. There is room enough here for all our beliefs.

And the food! Oh god the food. Deep fried turkey! Ham! Eggnog, with or without rum. (preferably with) Christmas Oranges (I am on box three, might get one more.) All the good chocolates. I understand why people gain weight this time O the year. But on top of food All is Merry and Bright! People put up lights and decorations. Christmas trees are nice, I always have to get a real one. I love the smell.

The cold can fuck off though! As of writing this it in minus 23, up in my hometown I am told t is minus 43. Let me tell you, I don't know if I could do Christmas without snow BUT I would be very happy if the cold pissed right off.

The best part of it all though is Goodwill to Men. The world slows down. People are more calm at work. In general people on the street are happier. People become more charitable. I hate to admit but even I am much more giving this time of the year. Friends Christmas everyone comes to, you start to see people you may not get to see during the year since everyone is now "so busy". And family! Back in the day we would have 40 people easily come for Xmas dinner. It isn't that big now as people do grow apart. However it is a time when people see there families and I think that is very special and important!

Anyways Merry Christmas!

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo
