All growed up.... Or growing up

This morning I was sitting having my coffee when I realized it was 7 AM on a Saturday and I was awake. Yes it was my dog that woke me but still I was up for no real good reason and I wasn't mad about it. Am I growing up? I popped in GTA V and thought about it while I played a video game about murder and mayhem. Also can't remember my last breakfast ceaser, oh I kinda miss those.

First off I now have a savings account. Like a big person! It is funny people usually have a savings account when they are little and $5 going into it is a big deal. It goes away during teens and early twenties often for booze and pizza and bars.... and so on then, it comes back when you grow up a bit. I have a saving account again.

I will admit probably some of this is due to diabetes but I actually eat mostly balanced meals. Yes often drenched in ranch.... And sometimes Franks. But I get a breakfast in now. Most important meal an all. Some sort of mid day snack. Usually fruit. A decent lunch and supper with carbs fruits and veggies. The money I had spent in Wendys, McDinks, I wonder how they stay open without me. And I think it has been a year since I ate off the way overpriced gut truck!

Getting together isn't a phone call anymore. 5 - 10 years ago Thursday was pay day. That was boys night. Take some of your cheque. (Whatever was left over after bills and paying the gut truck.) Again some of your cheque and go to the ballet. That's what it is called were ladies dance for money right? Anyways take the remainder and call everyone to go out Friday after work. By 7 most my friends were sitting around a table. Drinking and planning were to go next. Now a get together like that is 3 weeks planning to make the date work and at a restaurant not a pub. Also not that I was ever a bar person but I cant even imagine going to one now. You kids your music is just so awful and loud.

I have had the same phone number for about 5 years! Now this doesn't sound like much but for awhile I had a bad run with cell providers. My mothers phone book had way too many numbers! But it turns out paying your bill on time is a good idea!! Also I have had the same address now for more than a year. So that's right people now have a place to send my X mas cards.

I get to bed at night, a year or so ago 1 - 2 in the morning, maybe smelling like a drunk Russian sailor wasn't a strange bedtime. Now by 10 PM it is late! Add an hour or 2 on for weekends. Also I can't remember the last time i called in "sick" to work. And while it was sick, it might have been self induced. Also for some reason hangovers are much worse now.

I turned down a hockey game. Now here is the story. I had a game across town, but there was a blizzard. Police said stay off the road. I never miss a game, least not for weather. You join a team and you show up! Also I dunno if you have read the other blogs but I really like hockey. However after thinkin about it. It wasn't worth driving to the game. I dunno I have never made that sensible of a decision. So I am thinking that is a sign....

I have no idea about pop music or culture anymore. Who is the top of the charts now? And what the fuck is a Iggy Agliza or whatever? Is it a muppet? The last concert I saw was Motley Crue and they looked old!! Again who is Edward Cullen I know a vampire named Lestat. Is that delightful Corey Haim still popular. And why are people frightened of a puppet on a trike what happened to Jason or Freddy?

I have always driven slow in residential areas. Maybe it is because my brothers are 14 years younger than me so just when I was learning to drive I was aware of kids but now my driving is much better and more cautious. I mean its been roughly 14 years since I rolled a car and I don't remember my last ticket. Also I turn my music down. Not when ripping around the city but as soon as its res. nice and quiet.

My wardrobe has button up shirts. I have a suit, tie and dress shoes. I have dressy jackets and khaki shorts. I have thrown socks with holes, ditto with holy underwear! Also I do wear more than skate shirts and hoodies now. Not all the time mind you. I mean comfort is still the main thing to dress for but I guess it doesn't hurt to make sure clothes are clean and hole free.

So that's it. I sit and think about these things and I guess I am not Peter Pan but on the bright side that does protect me from Micheal Jackson!

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo
