Summer Holiday

So my 10 days off are wrapping up :(  I didn't manage to win the lotto so it will be back to work. It was actually a really good holiday. Got a lot done besides playing NHL2016 in the morning. So I guess I can write a small holiday fluff piece!

First off I turned 36 on my holiday, gawd I am old what happened!! I did get taken out to Parlour for my Bday. If you haven't tried it you should. Great Italian food and good wine. Also went out for pho one night and had a drink on the Cactus Club Patio. Plus got out golfing twice. Dragonshead is a decent little par 3. Good if you want a quick round. Also did Duffys challenge. Much more like a real course (Still par 3) so good though. Rent a cart, it is worth it. Liked the first 9 so much paid the difference to do the back nine. And on he bright side got better with each round.... Maybe one day I will be ready for a real course lol.

Seriously WTF Justin, I didn't wanna write much political and I wont but seriously in an address to all of Canada how do you forget Alberta??? I see it as two possible things... 1) A deliberate slap in the face to a province that your father didn't like, you don't like and you're not liked. But that would be awful as the Prime Minister. 2) You're just dumb. Why would you not be using a script written with the provinces OR if you picture Canada why start on the West Coast then go north??? Serious?? I have heard some people say it was just a genuine mistake. Maybe it was but WTF man!!!

Powered through Marvels Iron fist. Dunno what is up with the haters. This was a good show, cannot wait for defenders! (Actually have 1 episode left, likely the final thing I do on holidays lol.) No it isn't Daredevil but not everyone can be that good!!! Also watched the first two episodes of preacher, like this season a ton more than last. Still sitting waiting on GoT.

Hit the gym with my little brother. Haven't done that since before play-on. Truth is made my chest sore and then golf the next day actually hurt... I am getting old! Also took our dogs for a walk on the trails in St. Albert. While I am not a fan that I hear our taxes are highest in the country I do love the beauty of this City. On Saturday we went down to the Farmers Market. It is easy to blow through money there! But well worth the stuff you can buy. Mostly my dog gets treats, soon as my mouth is healed I will be buying a ton of fresh fruits and veggies though!!!

Trump in general is a joke. I think we all know that. I love following him on twitter though cause it is always great for a laugh! I liked WWE back when I was 10, kinda out grew that. To me it is fake, well to everyone it is but if you wanna watch a soap opera watch something on Netflix. Anyway I think we have all seen his meme? I dunno if that is the right word but him from WWE attacking a CNN sign??? Seriously, that is how the Prez wants to be seen. Or happy Fourth to everyone, including haters??? Is he a 13 year old boy? But thanks Donald for the laughs.

Beauty Weather, that's what this has been. One day was overcast and sadly we were golfing. But other than that it has been perfect!! Actually almost too hot, but I hate to say that since we only get 3 months like this...

So I have no children, currently to pass anything on to. But I love hearing about the past. I love watching neighbourhoods grow and change. I saw Grande Prairie change so much. 15 years ago I went out and knew everyone. Now I am a stranger... So I stole an idea. A co-worker recently went and took some pics same places his father did 40 years ago. They looked great. I am currently taking pics. Of places I lived and things that are / were important to me. I will re take them in a few years and hope maybe someday someone I know will do the same.

Also it does kinda feel good to get some real work done. I must be getting old to say that.... Anyways we got our roof finished this week. Stained the fence we built last year. Replaced a post in another fence. That was hard.... Ever chip 3 feet of concrete? NOT EASY!!!!! But now I think I can use the rest of the summer to relax and catch some fish!!

James Barker Band..... Part of my country kick but go check them out! Kinda pop country and kinda remind me of a young Johnny Cash

So I kinda did what I set out to do. I got a chapter of my kids book done. By done I don't mean edited. I mean ready for that but enough I can send to my friend for some sketches. That is what I wanted! TO me this is really exciting!!!

But thats it, holidays over....

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur...

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi...

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo...
