30 Day writing challenge #20 Music player shuffle!

SO play the first three songs on random on my music player eh? That is easy enough, I freakin love music!! Now here is the problem, my music player on my laptop isnt nearly all songs I like. See a few years back I was making a list at my desk of songs to burn onto a CD for my truck. I had a friend/coworker/roomate who secretly took the list and downloaded all the songs by everyone on that list for me. Which is awesome. I have a shit ton of music. The thing is I only like 3 songs my Marilyn Manson and Megadeath but I have their entire catalog. Then I bought this cheap ass laptop simply for writing and hockey pools. Well I wanted music so I put the drive in and now I have a ton of music 60% I love and 40% I skip.... So here goes.

I don't know why but it always starts off with Rage Against the Machines cover of I'm Housing. I am not even going to count this one cause it always plays. Rage will always remind me of High School and being an idealist. When I though everything was plain an simple. Having grown up a bit and seeing the world I know realize things are always as straight forward and easy as I once though.... But either way Rage is still one of my favorite bands and if you wanna get pumped turn them on!

So first was another cover. Anarchy in the UK done by Motley Crue. I freely admit I am a late blooming Crue fan. I wasn't even in my teens when they were having their heyday. Man did they look stupid back in the day! But here is what I like about them, they are just fun music! They sing about drinking, partying, screwing and drugs. Most of which I can relate to. There is no politics no deep meaning no teenage angst just good fun music. Which the world needs sometimes I mean why so serious??? Also I don't even like the song. Not big into punk music.

Next is Hedp.e Dangerous. I get sad for Hed. The album Broke by them blew my freakin mind! It is top 3 albums of my life Fo' Sho'. They perfected rap metal with that album. They did it all, a mix of politics and angst with songs just about fun. Then in my mind it went down hill. Blackout the album this song is from is almost too pop and then it is like they went super anti pop purposely not making the great music they had earlier on. While I still like 1 or 2 songs from every album they have made since they dont really hold a place in my music that much anymore. But this song will always have a place in my heart as early twenties party music.

Last is AC/DC Stiff Upper Lip. Lets be honest here, is their anyone bigger than AC/DC?? You want rock in a country bar what gets played?? You want a badass like Iron Man to show up in a movie what do you play. Does anyone not know the opening to Thunderstruck? Just before the ugly lights come on late at the bar it is time for Shook me All night long. Hope you get lucky.... And how long have these dudes been rockin?? Hell even Axle Rose wants to sing for them. All I can say is ICON! Oh as for the song not nearly a favorite but when you got the whole catalog.....

So that's it. It is kinda neat to do. I mean while I like them all they aren't really ones I listen to often, They don't nearly cover all my musical tastes but that is what I heard first!

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo
