AMC

I wasn't starting a new blog post yet here we are.... This was going to be a tweet but it was way to long. AMC we need to have a chat.....

First lets start with the Walking Dead Franchise. Fear just wrapped up another lackluster season. I am one of those goofs who watches a show until it ends. No matter how awful it gets like True Blood or Once Upon a Time. I may have to walk away from Fear though. Let me be SUPER honest here. Fear had an awesome concept and from the first trailer is looked like it would follow humanities downfall. THAT WOULD BE COOL. The original TWD was doing a good job of showing the world after but how interesting would it be to see what the world was like as it fell! Maybe it is my man crush but I thought Nick was the perfect character to tell this story. Hell the whole Clark family was perfect for this!! I get actors want to move on and in an apocalypse series people are going to die but does anyone even remember the Clarks? I guess this is my whole beef with this series, it moves from idea to idea stupid fast! So we are not going to stick with watching the world fall, lets go to Mexico! Some neat episodes and ideas but by the end, meh we are back in the states. Season 3 flat out this season had some great ideas. Can I call it the Cowboys and Indian season, well I am.  The whole survivalist's and native concept is awesome. The Mexicans controlling the water supply is awesome. These are all "real possibilities" at the end of the world. Plus the Proctors MC is a great idea. It makes sense the could survive and thrive since they already lived in there own world but we have a big show down and never see them again. Also what happened to Walker and Crazy Dog? This is the third season in a row we just leave good ideas. Season 4 we meet the Vultures, they aren't terribly interesting but they are okay. Also we rush the timeline way ahead because now Morgan comes around after defeating the Saviors. All I can say is Morgan and Nick meet, they have EASILY the best scene in this entire series and Nick dies. Maybe Frank wanted to leave the Nick character but that was too bad. Nick and Morgan together could have made this show something special. After this it gets so much more blah. The Virginia storyline wasn't all that great, she is a less funny Negan or Governor (Not that he was funny) I was happy to see Matt Frewer. The we get up to a death cult and a serial killer leader. Honestly that could be amazing! But instead we shoot off a nuke? Sorry, nah. The Stand already did the end of the world nuke thing and did it better. The concept of a death cult and serial killer is great. A million ways to run that but a nuke... c'mon. Also Dakota, wtf was that. I understand what they were trying to do BUT it just didn't work. Of all the "children" growing up in this new world she is the most boring. Seeing her nuked was nice. There are still sparks. Like Daniels mind slipping is great. Far as I remember something like this hasn't really come up. How would you deal with this? Dwight becoming bad ass again but to do good now? Thats cool. Also how is Strand still alive? The thing is either make him a Ramsay Bolton or redeem him! Like he is literally the most wishy washy character ever. For a couple season watching that was okay but now he is just boring. Although the history professor? is that what he was that Strand ended up with could be a cool story. Either way Fear you gotta do something...

I am not about to even go into "World Beyond" . It just isn't good and I am not sure if I am going to watch season 2.

The original TWD gets a few quick jabs. This show has been high and low. The first few season were awesome. It got stale for a bit and the Negan.... JDM perfected this character and it breathed new life into this show. Of course that had to wrap up and Negan was beaten. Then came the Whisperers, I am not sure if somethings that were great in comics don't transfer over but these seasons were boring. We got 6 "bonus" episodes over the summer. While each one might have had a neat concept ONLY here's Negan was actually worth the watch. My point is even the original is going way downhill..... I know the next season is the "last" of TWD but is it?? We all know that all three series are building toward meeting. So even if it ends, does it really or do we just get 3 lame shows becoming 1 big ass lame show. I don't mean to complete shit on TWD, it has made some crazy good episodes and seasons. I guess the issue is the absolute best shows IMO at least, have shorter runs. Mostly between 7 - 10 seasons. You can only milk so much...... Anyways that was way to much to tweet & maybe there is something really special coming but I have my doubts.

I also wanted to mention Gangs of London here. For the most part it is my fav new show. It does go off the rails though. It's called Gangs and for the first half it seems about the Gangs of London. It had crazy action and of course a murder mystery and an under cover cop. Sounds like everything for a great crime show. Even bringing in all the international criminals is pretty cool.  Then they introduce mercenaries & shadowy investors? It kind of goes downhill from there. It is no longer the "Gangs" of London but the Multi Billionaire shadowy international cartels of the world..... Don't get me wrong, it is still really good. The action, the twists its all really good but it veers way off of a crime show. Honestly after that season I am kind of excited to see the second season. I wasn't happy to see Sean die. I mean maybe they ae going for the Game of Thrones angle but killing the main & bets character (IMO) isn't the best way to start a show. Elliot deserved a much worse end, although I am thinking we haven't seen the end of him. The shit he did for Shannon, I am not sure he will feel the same with her blowing a big hole in Vicky. I ASSUME Billy & Marion will be back and there will be revenge to have.... The whole Floriana story didn't really go far. Her saving Marian though I am sure will be a big deal. Anyways it was a great first season over all. It did get a bit crazy unbelievable, hoping next season gets closer to the first half of this season but excited to see it either way.

So there, thats my quick blog that should never have been but I really needed to rant about TWD

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo
