November thoughts

So Justin Trudeau came to Alberta. He got the warm reception I think everyone knew was coming. Let's be honest, he ain't popular here. Signs were made that mocked his mom for possibly banging the rolling stones, oh and Castro. I have no problem with that. IMO like Melania Trump she saw some $$$ jumped on and ya know maybe got some on the sly. Some people well they may have taken't it too far with the whole noose thing. I have 0 like or even respect for him but the whole death threats, that kinda crosses a line. It is what it is, classless but have seen and heard much worse. Now a local turd sandwich and bitter Ex MLA is trying to blame right with politicians for this. People here have disliked the Trudeau family for decades, so good try I guess??? We get it you're bitter that you got punted...

I am flying to Mexico tomorrow morning. While I got legally married a couple months back, this is the big show. Friends, family, big white dress.... No not on me! Am I nervous, a bit ya. I mean it should be fun and a great time but a destination wedding is putting a lot of things on people you have never met. All the prepping, dance lessons, planning and in the end it is someones hands who sometimes things get lost in translation. Were I to do it again would I do a destination?? Maybe but if anyone is reading this and thinking about it there is a lot to take into account. Lots of people won't be able to come, you have very little control and in the end no it isn't cheaper. The flip side though we should have amazing pics and get an awesome holiday out of this all!

The Oilers got another new coach. Really guys?? How many do we need to go through? I ain't even about to arm chair coach this one but really? 12 years now, how many coaches and 1 playoff appearance? I am sure if the Oil have a good season we will hear how Hitch saved the team..... If they keep him and the Oil make a couple appearances or better yet deep runs I will say good job. Until then.....

A new chapter in the wizarding world came out. The Crimes of Grindewald. I like it! Not just because off my Johnny Depp man crush. Harry Potter series wrapped up nice and this is another great story, with a couple callbacks to HP but a good stand alone story. I do feel some story telling was traded to give better special effects. However the take that Grindewald while being a villain is a sympathetic character. He foresaw WWII coming and did not like it. Does he even actually hate muggles or just wants freedom for his people?

Reconnected with an old friend the other day. It got me thinking about old times. I am almost 40, is this where I thought I would be? If I am honest not really. But to be fair I didn't picture anything, I honestly think it was only in the last year or two I started adulting. I paid my debts, started to actually save money and have some in the bank. Finally got married. Realized maybe just being a average middle class Joe is okay.

Whatever happened to Trampede? Silly girl......

In another local tragedy a young man was kicked out of the Ranch Roadhouse and froze to death. This is awful but people are protesting the Ranch and I don't understand. Here is what I get, bars are not to over serve. After that what do they do? Drive people home? If you are kicked, your jacket should be returned and you sent away. Also were where his friends? His phone? There is a lot going on here. Why was he kicked? There is a lot to know before we go off all half cocked assuming the Ranch is in the wrong.

Edmonton / Highway of Tears

This was going to be a small paragraph in a bigger random blog but it grew really fast and the fact is I thought it was rather interesting so it will be post of its own. I decided to add some of these womens names. I once heard a pod about Jack the Rippers victims, that humanized them. I think thats what should be done, why glorify freak shows and forget about the people who suffered because of them. Also I added a bit more as I was just going to, just quickly mention Edmonton but I think it is bigger than that. Also still cannot find a legit decent looking charity to donate to for MMIWG.... Msg me if you know one! IS there a serial killer in Edmonton? Or was there one active? On another long drive home I came across podcasts on EPS, which led to pods on what they called the Edmonton - Leduc murders. Which if you have been around Edmonton for awhile I know you have heard of. I just was unaware of the amount and length of time this had been going on. First thing though not all these mur

Alberta Politics Pre 2019 election

Ahh that lovely time every few years when we see the worst in all people is upon us! That's right elections are coming! The brutal truth is both federally and provincially we are going to see shit get nasty. From both sides, let's not pretend anyone is innocent. This is all I am going to say on politics for awhile, at least until elections OR if something crazy happens. I really need to concentrate on actual writing. Not twitter bickering with people. So here is it my thoughts on the current federal and provincial politics. (Breaking this into 2 parts. This one is going to be just media and Alberta) First let's start with the sideliners. The media and the peanut gallery. Rebel Media OR Chicken little media. Whichever you want to call them is fine by me. It has been years now I was blocked for using common sense or not drinking the Kool-aid by Ezzie and the Rebel account. I can say I never dropped into name calling or anything like that with either, but I guess not believi

Part 3 Addiction

So, I have stated first, we need the correct systems in place, and second, we need healthy citizens for a better society. One of the root problems in society, though, is addiction. A mental health problem that can lead to so much more. Family violence, crime, homelessness, job loss, and on and on. There is no cure for addiction. There is management, and there are many things we can do much better to help addicts and society. So, let's tackle this one next.  I like drinking! I like the taste of a good whiskey or red wine. Or the supposed "no taste" of good vodka. I like that little boost of confidence that tells me, hell ya, you can dance! Or the fact that, yes, after a long day, it does take an edge off. I have a ton of great memories of times when booze was around... The flip side of that is I'm not too fond of hangovers. I hate not knowing what happened the night before; I guess there is a term for this now: hangxiety. Some of my worst memories and things I hate abo
