So another year has come to an end. I am 35 now. Which doesn't mean much except the start of a beer belly from a year of not as much activity as I should have had. Not a shit ton changed in my life. Still work the same job at the same place. Live in the same house and drive the same old truck. Still didn't publish ANYTHING! My thoughts on Channillo changed. I mean I might move my blog that no one reads over there. If people wanna pay a monthly fee and read it well I am okay with that. And if it fails I can always come back to this free site. I did finally get Netflix this December! Fritzin Fritz that is the shit! I also joined the modern world and got an X Box ! This was a great idea. First big shout out to Tell Tale Games. Love Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones and the New Batman awesome! The Xbox 1 also boosts new NHL games which a slick. And I finally got a game in the Mafia Series. Like the story more than the new Grand Theft but GTA is still king of crime games. We had a couple girls from Germany stay with us for a single night and I feel I learned from that. Like even though they are as modern as us or whatever they have a very different society. They were shocked West Ed was open on Sunday. And had no idea who Douche Trudeau was. When I said he was a douche like his old man who was once the PM they said oh like the Bush family... Loved that! We went to Disneyland in October for Halloween. It was both fun and a bit of a letdown. Like the trip was awesome. Tried some new rides ate at new places saw the Halloween Fun Party. The let down was it wasn't as Halloweeny as we thought! They do put up a few thing but all in all it remains pretty much Disney with a few pumpkins. Don't get me wrong though it was a great trip AND next time we go we are going around Xmas, to see the park done different again. To be honest the trip was the highlight of my year. It was a pretty average year.
Here in the Great White North I would say the biggest story was the Fort Mac fire. 1600 structures lost, the whole city evacuated. Billions in damage. For once Alberta and Canada came together. Donations flowed in and people did all they could to help out their fellow Canadians. See my old entry about it but I was super proud to be Canadian! More so than normal.
The world watched as USA politics became a running joke. I will never get why they have to campaign for a year at least, but Trump battled Clinton for what seemed like forever. It was the worst season of reality TV ever! Plus it spread, people I thought were pretty smart got all Trump-ctarded. I am not getting into it. I don't think either candidate was good BUT a reality TV star born with a silver spoon some how convinced America he is a common man..... I mean thank god it is over but lets now see how the next 4 years go. The man has twitter beefs with SNL for god sake! This is the "Leader of the Free World?"
I guess it was the year of the Grim Reaper. Famous people dropped like flies! George Michael, Gene Wilder, David Bowie, Alan Thicke, Alan Rickman, Prince. UNtil I googled it I didn't realize Gary Shandling. Arnold Palmer, Anton Yelchin (I liked him wanted him to be a Russian Mobster in a movie someday) Zsa Zsa Gabor, Princess Freakin Leia! and her mom in real life! Also Dr. Donald Henderson, ya he didn't get coverage but he did eradicate small pox. Kind of a big deal..... There was a million more but the last one was Fidel Castro. Ain't gonna get into it. He was a brutal dictator. I have no doubt of that. Some things to keep in mind, he did "liberate" Cuba from another bloody and brutal dictator. He ran out of his country corrupt American influence. They have universal education and health care. When nature opened a can of Whoop as on the USA he offered to send doctors and aid. They don't have drug cartels terrorizing the country and when we vacationed in Havana there wasn't the beggars on the street and one did feel safer than most cities in Mexico. Just some things to keep in mind.
I have to hand it to him, I am not a fan but Sid the Kid is one hell of a hockey player. The Penguins took home another Stanley Cup. On top of that we had the World Cup of Hockey. Sid was a big part of that too. Is it cocky to say ya of course Canada won!? So far this year McDavid is proving he is the Next One. The Oilers are having their first good year in over a decade. Maybe it is having a new arena... Which by the way is good and bad. Some of it is amazing and some of it kinda looks like a hospital. The no re entry is dumb as shit. Why build a whole district and not let people come and go from the arena. Or back to the Oilers they could be doing great because of the New Captain and top point getter in the NHL MCJebus. They Jays got Canada behind them again. People who don't care about bought the hats and pretended they really cared. And then they shit the bed. Some football happened in the CFL and the NFL. Some crazy comeback happened in the NBA finals, my brother tried to tell me about it...... I think Lebron had something to do with it. Rio hosted the summer games. It didn't go over well. A fake robbery, people complaining about the city.... It just wasn't good and I really didn't watch I like the Winter games a lot more.
Hollywood is still out of ideas. Ghostbusters was remade, with an all female cast..... Marvel kept pumping out movies. Captain America, X men, Doc Strange. Also Deadpool was finally done right! DC kept it going to with Batman Vs Superman and Suicide Squad. Another Star Wars movie came out but it has gotten crazy good reviews. Disney buying that was maybe their smartest move ever! Oh and they remade the Jungle Book and a second and fairly terrible Alice movie plus a new Petes Dragon. There was another Bourne movie and a new Independence Day oh and a Bridget Jones. Another Zoolander and another telling of Tarzan. And another hopefully final Purge movie. So ya Hollywood seems to be out of new ideas.... Kim K faked a robbery to try and stay famous and Kanye is in the nut house! Hopefully this means the end of that 15 minutes. The freak older brother from the freak family 19 Kids or whatever Duggar was found out as cheating and molesting his sisters. Said from day one freaks and I was right. Yet Reality TV still dominates..... Daredevil is amazing!! Negan actually made the Walking Dead worth watching again! Sadly Game of Thrones ended super happy so assuming next season will be brutal. Preacher came out, by the end I thought it was good but it did take sometime to get into. Also I discovered Yelawolf my new favorite musicain.
JT has had a year running Canada. I mean Trudeau, having JT - Justin Timberlake run it would likely be just as good. Like his father he is deeply dividing Canada. He is the boy king of Canada. The Chinese named him Little Potato. He brings us much respect! ON top of that the NDP keep ruining Alberta. Bill 6 passed, well actually that was in December of 2015 farmers hated the bill but they crammed it through. Then on top of that they raised minimum wage AGAINST the will of many small businesses. The big goal this year was to waste time on Sexual Identity in school. Making sure that kids can use made up words to identify themselves. Ze and Zur. Making sure that boys can pee were girls pee and other stupid fucking junk. Then as of this AM they rammed in a carbon tax. SO the prices to heat your home or drive are going up. Except for hipsters they have fallen so far in the polls they should be gone next election. Sadly the alternatives aren't great either......
There was tons more that happened. But these were the things that had impact on my life. Terrorism is still a big problem. Sadly twice this year Alberta was rocked by child murders. There is a million memes of people telling this year to suck it! There was a lot of shit that went on but at the end of the day I had a pretty decent years. And 2017 is the year if the Cock / Rooster which is my year so 2017 should be good!
